Andropause

by TongPik Ha 22 May 2026

Menopause is generally associated with women; however, men also experience their own form of menopause. This period typically occurs between the ages of 40 and 50, marking physiological, psychological, and emotional changes. It is a challenging time, with many men experiencing a decline in physical condition and an increase in inner anxiety and unease.

Men's Golden Age

Between the ages of 30 and 40, many men are at the peak of their careers. They have achieved certain successes in their professional lives and their family lives are relatively fulfilling. This period is often considered the golden age of their lives. Men are full of energy and hope for the future, and this confidence and sense of achievement are the main drivers of their lives.

However, the brilliance of this period is not eternal. As time progresses, various bodily functions gradually begin to decline, especially after the age of 40, when hormone levels begin to fluctuate. This marks the onset of male menopause, and many men experience various discomforts during this period, such as fatigue, anxiety, and depressive emotional issues.

Period of Life Anxiety

Entering the stage of 40 to 50, men find themselves no longer the young men they once were. The decline of bodily functions and the weakening of libido cause them to feel insecure and anxious. This anxiety often stems from doubts about their attractiveness, and many men begin to yearn for the confidence of their youth and seek opportunities to prove their charm.

During this period, men may desire contact with women other than their partners, which is related to a certain psychological need. They hope to prove their continued attractiveness through this external validation.

Male midlife infidelity is seen as a manifestation of self-doubt. This behavior reflects their rebellion against traditional roles. Here are some facial features particularly prone to midlife infidelity:

1. Numerous crow's feet

The corners of the eyes represent the marriage palace, and the appearance of crow's feet in men indicates dissatisfaction in marital life. They often feel unfulfilled in their marriage and lack the sense of responsibility as a man, often wishing to escape family duties.

2. Thick lower lip

Men with thick lower lips usually have stronger emotional needs. They may feel a lack of love in their marriage and thus seek other relationships to fill the void. However, if a person fails to control their carnal desires, it will significantly impact the rest of their life.

3. Dull eyes

Dull eyes, lacking sparkle, often reflect inner unease and confusion. They are indecisive in their actions and fail to handle emotional relationships well, easily leading to love triangles and even romantic misfortunes.

If men can learn to confront their emotional needs and seek fulfillment within healthy boundaries, they may be able to avoid the negative consequences of infidelity. Through self-reflection and self-discipline, men can not only better understand themselves but also improve their relationships with their partners. Remember: "Lust is instinct, self-control is noble."
